Indicação de conteúdo: This publication presents the official portrait of Protected Areas in the Legal
Amazon, from two analytical perspectives: environmental, with emphasis on the characterization of the types of natural vegetation found in these areas; and statistical,
with emphasis on the sociodemographic characteristics of residents. The data on plant
composition come from the IBGE’s Environmental Information Database - BDiA, which
details the shares of each phytoecological region encompassed by Conservation Areas,
Indigenous Lands and Quilombola Territories. The sociodemographic data come from
the 2022 Population Census, the most comprehensive of all IBGE statistical surveys,
conducted every decade to collect information about the residents of the Brazilian
territory, their demographic profile and living conditions.
